For as long as I can remember I have talked with friends and family about new and exciting business/investing ideas. The conversations always sounded similar with close buddies talking about either, how to get financially ahead in life or something the other person was so passionate about they knew it would eventually lead to positive cash flow. While it did happen, these conversations were rarely about someone considering a drastic career change, but simply something someone was interested in.
I loved these types of conversations, and they led to some great experiences. For example, these conversations led to 2 investment clubs (although one was recently closed down) and selling partial interest in my rental property. Unfortunately, there were some massive misses as well! In particular, I can think of 2 properties I really wish I owned right now.
It has made me sad that these conversations have all but dried up. I can think of only one that has happened in 2024 (with amazing follow-through from that individual). I am not sure why or what has happened. The only thing I can think of is that the pressure of family and real careers have killed some of these opportunities.
Either way, I’ll keep my ear to the ground!
